We're guessing that you are here for all the Formula One action throughout the year – well, don't worry we got it for you. Formula One, ran by the FIA, is the premier auto racing event around the world, featuring events in countries across the globe, with all teams, drivers and other participants following the F1 rules, governed by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, or FIA. These cars approach speeds up to 3000 kilometers per hour, and the engines rev to 18,000 RPMs, a poor imitation of their actual capacity, set to a limit by the FIA. The Formula One license that is given to those participating in these prestigious events is the highest class of racing license that the FIA issues.

Formula One is run on specifically designed circuits at some of the biggest tracks in the world, and in some races, on city streets and roads that have been closed down especially for the race. The majority of F1 takes place in Europe, where all of the participating teams are based, but in recent years F1 has hosted Grand Prix events in locations all over the world, particulary in Asia and the Middle East. Formula One is watched by over 600 million fans every time the cars hit the track and you are not along in wanting to watch every single heart pounding, high octane race.
In recent years Michael Shumacher and Ferrari have dominated the sport, taking five consecutive titles on the driver side and six consecutive as a constructor from 1999 to 2004. Schumacher was responsible for many records that are still in existence several years later, with drivers in the current seasons of Formula One racing attempting to catch up the precedent he set. Other drivers have also had some records of their own, such as Fernando Alonso becoming the sports youngest champion in 2005, and winning for team Renault, both a driver and constructor titles in 2006. In the 2009 season there was threatened withdrawal from the sport by teams such as Ferrari, because of proposed budget caps by the FIA. The trade off was greater technical freedom by the constructors.
The team and driver rankings on based upon points awarded when a driver or a team wins a race. The first place prize in a Grand Prix event is worth ten points, while the second place runner-up is awarded eight. Six points goes to the third place car, and five through one are awarded respectively to the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place finishes. The current Grand Prix events that are held are the Turkish Grand Prix, the Singapore Grand Prix, Spanish GP, Monaco Grand Prix, Malaysian Grand Prix, Japanese Grand Prix, Italian and Hungarian Grand Prix, German Grand Prix, European Grand Prix, British Grand Prix, Chinese GP, Brazilian GP, Belgian Grand Prix, Bahrain Grand Prix, and Australian Grand Prix, as well as a 2009 addition to the schedule, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
