Michael Shumacher Out of Retirement and Driving For Mercedes

Felipe MassaMichael Shumacher, who has won a Formula One Grand Prix Season no less than seven different times, has expressed interest in coming out of retirement and if he does, he'll likely be driving for Mercedes. The German racing team is in charge of Brawn GP and Luca di Montezemolo, the President of Ferrari, said that they would not stop Shumacher from driving for Mercedes, should he decide to participate in 2010, despite a three year contract with Ferrari. If the rumors are true and he does compete in this next Formula One season, odds are that the German driver will take yet another championship.

Shumacher had talked about coming back with Ferrari earlier this year, but decided against it in August because of a neck injury that he had sustained from a motorcycle accident. He was supposed to take over for Felipe Massa, who was injured at the time, but was unable to do so because of concerns about his physical state. Another roadblock came up when Ferrari was planning to add a third car to their grid with Shumacher driving, but the three car idea was rejected by those in charge of Formula One Racing.

Odds right now are sitting at 8-1 for the German driver to win the championship and experts are predicting his comeback will begin at the first race of the 2010 season, the Bahrain Grand Prix. The betting odds for him starting in Zbahrain are 1/10 and 11/2 that he doesn't begin his season there. This according to William Hill. A spokesman for the betting company, Rupert Adams says that they are completely convinced that Shumacher will return to Formula One racing in the 2010 season and that they expect that this will boost turnover by quite a bit. The Bahrain Grand Prix begins on March 12th, 2010.
