The 2009 formula one season promises to be a unique one given how many changes and modifications the rules have undergone over the winter. The FIA has called for different regulations regarding aerodynamics and tyres among on others. The good news however, is that the changes on how to determine the champion at season's end will not chance for at least another year. The FIA is planning to uses races won, rather than points won to determine the FIA f1 champions. Those rules will not come into use until 2010 at the earliest. You will be able to watch Lewis Hamilton live along with every formula one race event live at www.watchliveformula1.com.

In 2008 11 f1 teams participated in the competition. The season consisted of 18 races with the first taking place in Australia and the final in Brazil. Lewis Hamilton of McLaren Mercedes was able to win the title by just one point over Felipe Massa of Ferrari even though both drivers finished the season with 5 wins a piece. That scenario is partially responsible for the FIA's decision to change the criteria for winning from points to actual race wins. The title for constructors' champion was not as close with Ferrari finishing in first place with 172 while McLaren-Mercedes were 2nd with 151 points.
The 2008 Australian GP saw Lewis Hamilton win the pole for McLaren-Mercedes with a time of 1:26.714. Hamilton would also take the race with the Germans Nick Heidfeld of BMW Sauber and Nico Rosberg of Williams-Toyota coming in 2nd and 3rd. The fastest lap had been set by Heikki Kovalainen of McLaren-Mercedes at 1:27.418. Every lap of the 2008 Australian GP was covered live thanks to f1 racing live internet streams at www.watchliveformula1.com.
