German Grand Prix Live

The Formula One Championship continues with the next event of the series, which is the 11^th race of the series and is officially called the Formula 1 Grosser Preis Santander Von Deutschland, or the German Grand Prix for short, and will be followed by the Hungary Grand Prix and the Belgium Grand Prix. The race date is July 25^th, 2010 and it will be held at Hockenheimring, its 67 laps, and the circuit is 4.574 kilometers long. That means that the total race length will be 306.458 km. The lap record for this circuit is held by Kiki Raikonnen, which he obtained in 2004. Two practices on Friday, July 23^rd, one at 10:00 and one at 14:00. Third practice on Saturday, July 24^th with the qualifying at 14:00. The race will be held on Sunday, July 25^th at 14:00 and the last race was the British Grand Prix which was won by Mark Webber with Red Bull Racing Renault.

Besides Webber, we have had several winners for the races throughout the season, including Bahrain won by Fernando Alonso with Ferrari, with Jenson Button winning Australia. Sebastian Vettel won at Malaysia and then Jenson Button won the Chinese Grand Prix. Then we went to Spain and another Mark Webber win, followed by yet another in Monaco. The German Grand Prix will be happening this July and your in the right place to catch all the action, with points on the line, and major changes taking place for the race, you won't want to miss a second of the 2009 German Grand Prix. This will be the ninth Formula One Race this season, and will take place at the Nurburgring in Nurburg, Germany on Sunday, July 12th at 12:00 GMT.

Brawn GP driver Jenson Button is 23 points ahead of his closest competitor on the rankings, his teammate Rubens Barichello who is just barely maintaining second place with a two point lead over Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing. Vettel won the British Grand Prix a few days ago, and while Jenson Button only took sixth in the race at Silverstone he has a considerable lead over everyone else.

As far as the teams go, Brawn GP is certainly out ahead with two drivers in the top two placings, currently 30 1/2 points ahead of Red Bull. Toyota is in third, but are thirty points behind the energy drink company and Force India hasn't really been much a force, not scoring a single point so far.

The 2008 winner of the German Grand Prix was Lewis Hamilton with McLaren-Mercedes but he currently only has 9 points and is sitting at 11th place in the Championship. Former winners on the field include Rubens Barrischello, Fernando Alonso driving for Renault, who currently holds 9th place with 11 points. Another former world champion sits between Hamilton and Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, who has 10 points and holds 10th place in the championship.

This is the first year in quite some time that the official name of the race is the German Grand Prix. The track has hosted three Grand Prix races over the years, the European Grand Prix, the German Grand Prix, and the Luxembourg Grand Prix, but not since the 70's has the race been able to be called the German Grand Prix because of a dispute with the Hockenheimring over naming rights. 

The first ever event in Grand Prix Motor Racing in Germany was at the Automobil Verkehrs und ubungs Strasse in Berlin in 1926. It was a sport's car race and under heavy rain Rudolf Caracciola took first in a Mercedes Benz. The first official German Grand Prix was in 1929. The Nurburgring course was inaugurated in June 1927 holding the ADAC Eifelrennen. 

The very first Formula one season begin in 1950, but it did not include the German Grand Prix, as Germany had been banned from international contests until 1951. More recently, the German Grand Prix was supposed to have been hosted by both the Nurburgring and the Hockenheimring from 2007 to 2010. However, the dispute was eventually settled and it was decided that the Hockenheimring race would become the European Grand Prix while the race at Nurburgring would be the German Grand Prix.

Some drivers are legends on the German GP Circuit, like Michael Schumacher, who has won four different times, in 1995, 2002, 2004 and 2006. There are four drivers who have won it three times, Juan Manual Fangio, Jackie Stewart, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna, while a grand total of eight drivers have won it twice, the most recent in 1997.

The 2008 German Grand Prix was held at the Hockenheimring in Germany, and was the 10th race of the season. Lewis Hamilton won pole position for the race, and he was able to keep that advantage throughout until lap 18. He made a pit and lost his lead, but regained on lap 22 of the race. When the safety car was deployed on a crash by Timo Glock,

Hamilton kept going while all the other cars in the race made a pit stop. He stopped finally on lap 50, but was able to pick up fifth place immediately and then passed his team mate Heikki Kovalainen, as well as Massa and Piquet and took a further position because of a pit stop by Nick Heidfeld. He took the lead on Lap 60 and kept it until the checkered flag. Nelson Piquet Jr. took second place, with Team Renault and Felipe Massa had third driving for Ferrari.

This year's race in Nurburg will be a very exciting race and you can watch all the action right here on www.watchliveformula1.com.   The track at Nurburgring is 5.15 Km around the track and the race itself is a sixty lap, 308.86 Km race. These drivers are trying to catch up to points leader Jensen Button and will be driving their best on the German track. This is the first year in a long time that the race has borne the title it had so many years ago and you'll want to make sure you are there for the action.

There are still eight races to go in the Formula One 2009 Season, including the 10th race to be held in Hungary on the 26th. This is the Hungary Grand Prix, followed by the race in Belgium and then the Italian Grand Prix. This will be a total of 17 races.
