Valentino Rossi grabbed his ninth world title but there is still second place and beyond to be decided and it will all happen in Valencia on November 8^th. So we have Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, and more still in the running for placement on the final leaderboard. Lorenzo looks to be tying up second place nicely because the only way he cannot take it is if he doesn't finish at all or finishes with no points. If by some chance he does that, and Casey Stoner wins the race then that 25 point margin would be closed and Stoner would move into second. However, the way it has been going this year for Lorenzo that seems unlikely. Stoner just finished winning two races is in third, even after being interrupted by illness.

Right now Dani Pedrosa sits in fourth place, just 11 points away from taking Stoner's position, and fifth place is still up for grabs as well as only six points separate Colin Edwards and Andrea Dovizioso. Seventh could be any of six riders, including Marco Melandri who currently holds the spot, Loris Capirossi, Alex de Angelis, Tony Elias, Chris Vermeulen and Randy de Puniet.
