The Lifelock 400 will be held at the Michigan International Speedway on the 14th, with practice sessions and qualifying happening the few days previous. The Michigan track is a multi-grooved high speed course where the most important thing for driver's to worry about tends to be just a couple of gallons of gas. This is an extremely wide track and drivers can race all over the roadway, with three wide car stack-ups not uncommon. This makes it easier to pass, and track position tends to count less than it does in other races.

Last year's race saw Dale Earnhardt Jr. scoring his first victory with Hedrick, while Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Brian Vickers fought it out for the lead nearly all of the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr. took it easy and conserved his fuel, and at the caution he was able to move up and win the race. This 2.0 mile oval is D shaped and the total track length is 2.0 miles. The forecast for the race is clear and cool, and fans can expect a top-notch showing of some of NASCAR's greatest up and coming drivers and well known greats.

A favorite to win is surprise pick Carl Edwards, who has two victories and just one finish outside the top ten at the Michigan Speedway. He is coming into this race with his strongest performance of the year just prior, with the race at Pocono, as he lead more than half the race and ended up finishing second, reminding everyone of the Carl Edwards that won nine races in 2008.
