Saturday, August 1st, is the U S Cellular 250, presented by Northland Oil and TMC Trucking, and held at the Iowa Speedway. This track is.875 miles, and is called a Rusty Wallace Signature Series Track. This tri-oval in Newton, Iowa, only about thirty miles from Des Moines, saw Iowa's first event held by NASCAR make history for more than that reason. A seventeen year old Joey Logano took the victory from regular Kevin Harvick This track features 1075 feet on the front stretch, and 869 on the back, with 12-14 degree banking and seating that can hold up to 25,000 NASCAR Fans.

This is race 21 of 25 of NASCAR's Nationwide Series, and it's a grueling 219 miles in the hot sun of Iowa. This is the Nationwide Series first time in Iowa. The reason that it is bears Rusty Wallace's name, is because he was a consultant through it's design and construction. The track looks a little like the Richmond International Raceway, where Rusty Wallace took home six wins, twenty two top five finishes and was in the top ten no less than thirty times. The 12 to 14 degree banking was created to make grooves for the side-by-side, giving more excitement to fans and making it so that drivers were able to pass if they were skilled enough.

Sprint Cup regulars like Kyle Busch certainly will be looking to make history on this fresh new track, as well as Carl Edwards who had his first career win at ORP. Edwards is just behind Kyle Busch on the leaderboard, as well as in placing top five and top ten finishes. Kevin Harvick is another man that is expected to be out front, especially since he excels at short tracks, and his Cup Series win at Richmond may give him a slight advantage in this Richmond inspired track. It's anyone's guess who will cross the checkered flag first, but you can find out on Saturday, August 1st, 2009.
