This is the perfect venue for the final round of the FIM Hannspree Superbike World Championshps this weekend, being an updated and completely modern circuit which is just in it's infancy, having opened barely twelve months ago. However, even with the short amount of time the track has been open it has already become a favorite of drivers and fans alike. Last year, Troy Bayliss won in both races which was the very first time the circuit has see the World Superbikes Championship. The circuit is the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao.

As it stands right now, Noriyuki Haga leads the driver's standings with 436 points, while second place is taken by Ben Spies, just ten points behind him. Michel Fabrizio is in third place, while Max Biaggi takes fourth. Jonathan Rea is in fifth with 279 points. In the constructor's championship Ducati leads with 534 points and Yamaha takes second place.
