The Telefonica Grand Prix of Europe of European GP, will be held in Valencia, Spain this year at the Valencia Street Circuit. The race has been around since 1983 and has been held regularly since 1999. The race consists of 57 laps covering 310.080 km and a circuit length of 5.440 km. German legend Michael Schumacher, formerly of Scuderia Ferrari, is the all time leader in wins at the European GP with 6 wins while Ferrari were the most successful constructors with 5 wins. The 2007 edition of the live European GP saw Fernando Alonso win the race for McLaren-Mercedes. Kimi Raikkonen did not place in the top 3 despite having won the pole position.

The last race in the formula 1 calendar which was run prior to this one took place at the Hungaroring in Hungary at the ING Magyar Nagydij. Lewis Hamilton of McLaren-Mercedes was unable to finish in the top 3 despite winning the pole. Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen set the fastest lap but that did not do him much good as he would only finish 3rd. Instead, Heikki Kovalainen of McLaren Mercedes would notch the victory with Toyota's Timo Glock finishing in 2nd place. That result marked the 3rd consecutive race that has been won by McLaren-Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton had won the last 2 races. Overall McLaren-Mercedes are winners of 3 straight races.

Through 11 rounds of f1 live racing the drivers' standings show Hamilton in first place with 62 points but his lead over 2nd place Raikkonen of Ferrari is only 5 points. Meanwhile, Felipe Massa of Brazil is in 3rd place for Ferrari with 54 points and is within one victory of climbing to the top. The constructors' table is also fairly tight at the top with Ferrari leading at 111 points, followed by 2nd place McLaren-Mercedes at 100 and BMW Sauber checking in at 90 for 3rd place.
