It was back in the year 1995 that this team joined the MotoGP championship with the riders Mick Doohan, Shinichi Itoh and Àlex Crivillé. Mick Doohan won the world championship and it was his second victory in a row and during the entire season that year he won a total of seven races whereas Criville won one race and finished fourth and right after him was Shinichi in the fifth position among all the MotoGp drivers. Tadayuki Okada joined the team of the three drivers in the following year and Mick Doohan again won the world championship this year glorifying the new team called Respol Honda. The year 1997 saw even more glorious days and Mick Doohan broke all records by winning fifteen races in a single season and thus gaining the fourth consecutive world championship title. Okada was the runner-up this season and Criville finished fourth. In Indonesia, Japan, Spain and Germany it was all the Repsol Honda Team drivers that took the podium positions.

Michael Doohan continued to be the world champion even in 1998 but it was not such a good year for team-mate Okada who missed three races due to a serious accident. Sete Gibernau had joined the team by then and in 1999 it was the same line-up of drivers that followed. It was in the year 2002 that Valentino Rossi joined the team of Repsol Honda and became the world champion of the season with eleven wins. The next year Nicky Hayden joined Rossi and Rossi became the World Champion third time in a row.

In the year 2004 Rossi left the team and Biaggi joined it in 2005 and Dani Pedrosa joined in 2006. It was in 2006 that Hayden won the World Championship and the following year he finished as runner-up.
